HOW PROTEC WORKS

An exterior coating is no good without adhesion. It must adhere to the wall with 100% efficiency which is where most conventional renders and finishes fail. PROTEC's adhesion is exceptional - it doesn't just cover the surfaceof a wall, it becomes part of it.

Even a perfectly dry house has water vapour trapped in the walls. If this moisture gets sealed inside permanently, damp and condensation can result within the building. PROTEC exterior coating is porous allowing water vapour to escape and buildings to 'breathe' freely.

Although PROTEC allows the passage of water vapour to enable walls to breathe, it is waterproof and impervious to rainwater and will prevent damp penetrating through walls from outside.

PROTEC insulates against the effects of cold weather, will not chip, flake or peel and will transform your house adding value and enhancing its appearance wth that 'just decorated' look.

APPLICATION
PROTEC is applied by high pressure spray and contains a carefully controlled and proven blend of Alkyd and Polybutene resins. A blend of six different mineral and fibrous fillers ensures long term durability and weather resistance.

APPLICATION CONDITIONS
PROTEC can be applied at any temperature above 3¼C and is touch dry in 12-24 hours. PROTEC is designed to harden slowly over a period of up to 4 weeks - this is an integral part of the long term toughness and flexibility of the material. PROTEC darkens slightly during curing and the true colour will therefore take some weeks to emerge.

PRE- TREATMENT
Before commencing an application of PROTEC, the following pre treatment and preparation building repairs are undertaken:

Building faults which allow moisture to enter the walls e.g. broken rainwater goods, coping stones etc,. are repaired before coating.
Algae & fungi are killed and power washed off the building.
Loose surfaces and render are renewed but soundly adhering render can normally be coated successfully following a primer coat of Stabilising Solution.
Rough surfaces, e.g. coarse pebbledash may need priming with a mist coat of heavily thinned Protec.
Haircracks can be successfully covered but substantial cracks are filled, usually with silicone rubber sealant prior to coating.
Bitumen surfaces (including Bitumastic paints) are sealed with a good quality exterior grade emulsion such as Protec Weatherguard prior to coating.
